Draft, 7 November 2026

The short version

Your baby's log stays on your own iPhones and Apple Watches. There's no account, no analytics and no adverts.

If you share the log with your partner or anyone else, each change passes through our server end-to-end encrypted: it's locked on your phone and only unlocked on the devices of the people you've let in. We can't read it, and neither can Apple, who deliver the notifications.

What the app stores on your devices

  • Your baby's name or nickname, date and time of birth, and due date if you add it (for corrected age).
  • What you log: feeds (side, length, amount, type of milk), pumping, sleep, nappies, medicines (name, amount, who gave it), temperatures, weights and lengths you enter, and your notes.
  • Who logged each entry, by the name they chose.
  • Your settings and reminders.
  • Encryption keys for sharing, kept on this device only.

It's kept in the app's own storage on your iPhone and Watch. If you also use Nearly Here on the same iPhone, the two apps share your family circle on the device, so you don't have to invite people twice. The app doesn't store your baby's log in iCloud. Your device's own backups may include the app's data, as they do for other apps; that's controlled in your device settings.

Sharing: what goes through our server

Only if you share the log with someone. Our server holds:

  • For each shared log: a random ID, the invite code while it's valid, and when it was last used.
  • For each device: a random ID, a public encryption key, Apple's notification address for the app, and when it joined.
  • Names of the people on the log, encrypted.
  • Changes to the log, end-to-end encrypted: we can't read them. They're kept until every device on the log has them, then deleted.
  • The running timer, if there is one, end-to-end encrypted, so it can show on everyone's Lock Screen.
  • With the unlock: one backup of the whole log, end-to-end encrypted with a key only your family holds. Each new backup replaces the last.
  • With the unlock: updates and photos you send to family, end-to-end encrypted. Photos are deleted after 7 days.

No names, email addresses or phone numbers are stored in readable form. The server runs on Cloudflare, in EU data centres. Like any website it sees each request's IP address, which it uses briefly to limit repeated attempts at guessing codes; it doesn't store it.

How long: stopping sharing deletes everything for that log from our server straight away, as does a long period without use (we'll set this before release and show it here). Removing someone, or someone leaving, deletes their record. Invite codes stop working after 24 hours.

Who can join: having the code isn't enough. Someone already on the log lets each person in, and anyone can be removed at any time.

What the app never does

  • It doesn't collect your email address or location, or ask you to make an account.
  • It doesn't access your contacts.
  • It doesn't use analytics, tracking or advertising, and doesn't sell or share data.
  • It doesn't read from or write to Apple Health.

Your choices and rights

Edit or delete any entry, or delete the whole log. Stop sharing, or leave a log someone else shared with you, in Settings. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your devices.

Under UK data protection law you can ask what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Our server can't link a record to you by name, so tell us the date you joined and we'll do our best. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Why we can use this information

A baby's feeding, sleep and medicine log is health information. We only process it on our server, in encrypted form, if you choose to share the log or turn on backup, and the app asks for your explicit agreement first. You can withdraw it at any time by stopping sharing and turning off backup.

Children

The app is for parents and carers, and isn't directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date, and significant changes will be shown in the app.
